Immigration PortalThe Leeds and Grenville Immigration Partnership is a program that brings together organizations and individuals dedicated to assisting newcomers to Canada to become involved, contributing members of this area’s communities. The program is led by United Way Leeds & Grenville, in partnership with the City of Brockville and 16 community organizations that make up the Partnership Council.

Through this program, the Leeds and Grenville Immigration Portal has been created. The Immigration Portal offers and links to information and resources relevant to recent immigrants. It provides municipal-specific settlement information and links to federal and provincial immigration websites. Using the portal, potential or recent immigrants can gather information on living, learning, working and doing business in Leeds Grenville, as well as information on coming to Canada. The Immigration Portal is available at www.newcomersinfo.ca.

Additional initiatives undertaken by the program include the production of two videos, a Newcomers’ Welcome Kit, the organization of several community events celebrating cultural and ethnic diversity, and various initiatives to connect and refer newcomers to the people, organizations, and services they require.  If you are a newcomer looking to connect with your new community or considering a move to the region, please contact Matthew Raby at United Way (613-342-8889, diversity.matters@uwlg.org).  Please also contact Matthew if you are a local resident and would like to get involved in this exciting community program.
